Aimless
As I approach thirty, I reflect on the pressures of societal expectations, the importance of self-discovery, and question the true meaning of stability and purpose in life.
Approaching thirty.
I had a quarter-life crisis, thinking I was running out of time, but look at me now, approaching thirty. The world hasn't ended yet, so I guess I was wrong.
The rat race is real, and it's inevitable that we fall into that trap of running someone else's race. But how does that serve me in what I've got going on?
It's easy to get lost. How many times have you picked up your phone since you woke up? *don't worry, I'll give you a second to count.
See? Probably too many to count!
Focus...
There was a time when I just wanted better for myself. Life really wasn't making sense, so I bounced.
Isolation was the best teacher.
In my opinion, getting to know yourself plays a pivotal role. I believe it!
I really do!
Switching majors, impromptu trips, pulling double shifts because we were taught to work super hard for our money. Why was I working so hard for money?
Stability was the goal, but how stable can one be if they never take any risks?
If money wasn't a factor, would you still be doing what you're doing right now?
Hello September
In September, reflecting on goal-setting and personal growth, I learned the importance of focus, taking things step by step, and the power of a positive mindset amidst life's uncertainties.
There's something different about September.
Or maybe it's just this September. We make these plans, but do they ever get fulfilled? Sadly, for most, the answer is no, but that's none of my business. My business is focusing on what's in front of me.
Focus…
I believe that we add unnecessary stress when setting goals.
Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves within a 30-day window?
Let's be real with ourselves.
Baby steps…
Baby steps…
Ok, I've got it.
Every time I found myself in a bind, I would tell myself to THINK BIGGER.
And I'm going to continue standing by that. Mindset shift.
There's power in taking things day by day because anything can be thrown at you. That "anything" can derail you and knock you off your course.
I don't want to have the same goals this time next year. By saying that, I have the utmost faith that I can always count on myself.
I've observed a lot of disappointment through the eyes of others. I don't want to live a life filled with disappointments.
I remember a conversation with my dad about fear and accomplishment. He told me,
"Fear means nothing when you decide to move forward."
"Write it down, just one idea, sit there, and watch everything flow."
Set one goal a month and then break it down.
No more compromising.
No more disappointments.
No more doubts.
Here's to more spontaneous days in September.
Hello, September.
